REFLEXOLOGY and PAIN
WHAT IS PAIN
To define PAIN - one has to experience PAIN - to be able to explain this unpleasant sensation. It is ones' own personal unpleasant feeling to the cause.
PAIN is a sensation caused by stimulation of the sensory nerve endings - that we recognize - feel - when our body tells us we are hurting. If our circulation is slightly impaired - obstructed - injured - diseased - our body tells us by aches and pains. PAIN is a valuable information data tool for evaluating underlying disorders.
PAIN maybe mild - severe - chronic - acute - burning - dull - sharp. Its onset may be sudden or slow. PAIN reflected and felt in one area can be from a disorder in a different region - this pain is transferred and relocated by neural pathways - transmitting PAIN impulses. The individual response to PAIN differs greatly - depending on ones' physical and psychological factors - like fear - anxiety - shock - pain threshold.
PAIN afflicts us in many ways - from minor scrapes - headaches - disease - muscles - joints - injuries - lack of excerise - grief. How we deal with it is up to the individual. Our PAIN threshold and tolerance levels cause the body to go into a PAIN mode cycle - sometimes PAIN inflicted on the body is too severe and too great to bear - the conscious mind shuts down and the body and goes into shock - or unconscious state of mind. This is the only way the body can endure and survive the severity of immense pain. The body rejects what it doesn't like - it doesn't like PAIN - so it closes off and deals with it in its own natural way.
PAIN signals are transmitted along nerve pathways via the spinal cord. PAIN is an amazing body function - it has its own antidote - the natural response of the body is to produce pain relieving substances - called endorphins - the human bodys' natural PAIN killers.These inhibit neurotransmitters in the pathway for PAIN perception thereby reducing emotional as well as the physical impact of PAIN.
